Farnham was born in 1926, and was most active in the New Jersey /Pennsylvania area. He has extensive auction records, with a piece selling as recently as 3/2008, for over $1,000, and in 2/2008 for over $1,500. His highest auction record was set in January of this year (2008). It was a 12" x 16" oil on canvasboard , which sold at William Doyle Galleries, for a whopping $12,000. This piece up for auction was recently purchased from the heir to its original owner, and is also an oil on canvasboard. The heir said the image is somewhere in Bucks County, Pa., where she grew up. Her father purchased Farnham paintings for her Mother on every Holiday.This piece  up for auction was given to her Mother as a 23rd Anniversary gift, in 1960, and is signed in the lower left-see photo.Inside dimensions are 13 1/2" x 9 1/2". Outside dimensions (includes frame) are 18 " x 14 ". The interesting, distressed wood frame is original to the piece. In person, the colors are bright and pleasing.  It comes with 2 photographs of Alexander and Barbara Farnham painting outside at a local Arts Festival in 1962.
