Description
For auction is a rare opportunity to own the entire personal collection of unsold original art by noted artist, ROBERT FLORCZAK (biography below). The collection spans the years 1977~2007 and amounts to OVER 100 WORKS, representing art from well known picture books, posters, movie campaigns, as well as fine art, etc. Each piece, whether in oil, watercolor, graphite, or mixed media, is in pristine condition, some as large as four feet long, others as small as a few inches. All the ROMANCE, CLASSICISM and METICULOUS DETAIL for which FLORCZAK is widely known is there in every painting and drawing, some beautifully framed. As an added feature of perhaps even GREATER VALUE, the winning bidder will also take ownership of the COPYRIGHT AND FULL REPRODUCTION RIGHTS of every piece in the collection! This alone is worth potentially more than the value of the originals, as the artist's reputation continues to expand internationally, along with a growing demand for prints and merchandise of his work. Though only a small sampling of the offered art is able to be displayed here, a complete and detailed listing with images of the collection is available upon request to THE SERIOUS BUYER. This offer affords the entrepreneur, collector, and passionate lover of CONTEMPORARY CLASSIC REALIST ART the unique chance to own and capitalize on the works of a living, productive, and renowned artist. Good luck with your bidding! §§§§§§§ ROBERT FLORCZAK attended the prestigious COOPER UNION in New York City, studied painting under WILL BARNET, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree; was Artist-In-Residence at Widener University; and taught painting at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. As a professional artist, Robert has enjoyed an active career that spans more than three decades, with extensive work in the fine art, advertising, entertainment, and publishing fields. Florczak’s original paintings are in the private collections of MEL GIBSON, MICHAEL JACKSON, WHOOPI GOLDBERG, JIMMY STEWART (now at PRINCETON UNIVERSITY), and PAUL ALLEN (co-founder of Microsoft), among others, as well as that of AT&T, RANDOM HOUSE, BEECHAM PHARMECEUTICALS, THE YSAYE MUSEUM in LIEGE, and TOKYO'S TRANS~MODERN ART GALLERY, to mention a few. Florczak’s art is characterized by an avid interest in HISTORICAL, LITERARY, AND MYTHOLOGICAL themes of DRAMA and ROMANCE, and an intimate understanding of the classical methods of the OLD MASTERS. Additionally, his work reflects a passion for the ACADEMIC and VICTORIAN narrative painters of the 19th CENTURY, such as LEIGHTON, BOUGUEREAU, and ALMA~TADEMA, as well as the majestic landscapes of BIERSTADT, CHURCH and MORAN. Whether working in layers of transparent oil glazes or meticulously rendered pencils and watercolors, Robert brings to his paintings a depth and attention to detail and themes uncommon in contemporary art. His designs and technique have been compared to the classical imagery of the PRE~RAPHAELITES and have been described as “CARAVAGGIO CROSSED WITH MAXFIELD PARRISH”(School Library Journal, 10/5/95). According to one reviewer, Robert’s landscapes are “REMINISCENT OF THE AMBITIOUS PAINTINGS FROM THE HUDSON RIVER SCHOOL”(Booklist, 5/1/96). Along with a vast amount of cinema art, posters, album covers, book and magazine illustration, fine art, etc, Robert has produced the artwork for eight acclaimed picture books.
