Description
yotam zohar original oil paintings and artwork John Linnell [graphite on paper, 2004] [19-1/2" x 25-1/2" framed, signature in lower right corner] John Linnell is an original graphite drawing on paper by Yotam Zohar. It was created in 2004 using the finest quality media, with archival methods. This drawing depicts John Linnell, one of the co-members of the popular alternative rock band They Might Be Giants. His face and shoulders are sensitively rendered in graphite using a super-realist graphing method, in which the image is created square-by-square and gives an emotive visual effect that is more powerful than a photograph. The drawing is an affective work to both fans of Linnell's music and those who have never even heard of him! His face contains elements of sadness and introspection that represent the ideal elements of a portrait. The dramatic lighting combines with his intensely thoughtful gaze, evoking an ecstatic experience of both looking and being seen. John Linnell is 3/4" deep and readily-equipped for hanging with security brackets attached to the back of the frame. about the artist Yotam Zohar is a young artist originally from Israel. He was trained in London, UK and in Columbus, Ohio, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at The Ohio State University. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Art at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. He is the winner of numerous awards, including the Fergus Memorial Fund Award for Achievement in Fine Arts and the OSU Undergraduate Research Scholarship. His work has been exhibited internationally and across the United States, in private and public collections. Yotam is a Classically-trained painter, a unique attainment for an artist hailing from Midwestern art schools. However, he has worked in a wide variety of styles and media, including gouache abstract-expressionism and graphite photorealism. A budding professional artist, his paintings are expected to appreciate value rapidly over the next decade as the economy moves forward and realism regains international popularity. a note on the photographs Paintings and drawings exist separately from photographs for a reason; a photograph, no matter how it is taken, cannot capture the experience one gains from seeing a work up close and in person. Therefore we emplore you to examine the photos carefully, and to understand that from various angles and distances, the actual drawing may look somewhat different. For your consideration we have included a simulation of the drawing hanging on a white wall in a typical living room. The drawing's size is only approximately to scale in that photo.
