The idea was to capture the Blue Marlin in its natural environment as it jumps through a school of tuna in anticipation of its next meal. Marlins are aggressive fish, feeding on various types of fish.  The surface texture on the sculpture reflects light both night and day creating a brilliant and stunning effect. This will be great piece for a focal point for entrance or lobby from Maui to Palm Beach for any lover of unique marine art. The Blue Marlin is constructed from 18ga. 304 stainless steel,  finished in a dye enriched 10 year outdoor satin permalac lacquer. The base is natural coral limestone known as kokkino found on Florida's southern coast line. Kirk Davis painstakingly executed every detail and formed it by hand. Over 460 hours went into constructing this magnificent Blue Marlin and is signed by the artist. The Sculpture is 9' tall x 4.5" wide x 4' deep and weights approximately 2635 lbs. The base is approx. 2500 lbs and the fish, which is hollow weights approximately 135 lbs. Kirk Davis for over a decade has focused on the design and execution of unique sculpture, furniture, and architectural metal work.
