NR       This amusing portrait depicts a man very much in need of a pencil to write, to draw, or to compose a musical piece.  For the caption at the bottom of the portrait tells the story; "Ou'est passe'mon crayon??" asks the gentleman  (Where is my pen??).  Obviously, the French artist as well as the prior owner of this funny piece had a sense of humour.    We date this portrait probably to the turn of the century.  It is an original pencil drawing with some added gouache. The frame is contemporary and in excellent condition. In fact, the whole painting is in excellent condition. It is sure to please as do all our items.
