I could write pages and pages about this DEAR and SWEET ARTIST but if you go to hible.com you can read the information and all the exhibits she has held over many years and the massive amount of awards received by her from dignitaries all over the world, including the UNITED NATIONS and a stamp in her honor. AMERICA LOVES EDNA HIBEL ********************* I first met Edna in 1883 and my first impression confirmed what I LOVED about her art, because she IS her art. I instantly saw the LOVE and COMPASSION as seen through her paintings and knew at that moment that Edna is PURE LOVE and COMPASSION and paints those into ALL of her PAINTINGS. I have several long stories but won't go into them now. I must say that if I have a bad day, I just go sit and look at her calming and beautiful paintings and in a few minutes, the stress of the day is replaced with a feeling of comfort and relaxation. I get up with a new attitude and ready for the day to improve and it always does. I LOVE our beloved Edna more than I can express in a few words but it is time to give others those cherished times of viewing her painting in their own home, on display for themselves and ALL their friends. I have 'America the Beautiful' in a hall opening to the family room and kitchen and EVERYONE who comes into the room does a double take to see what is coming from the hall and falls in LOVE with the painting. I guess that is enough stories because I could go on and on about this outstanding lady, EDNA HIBEL. 'AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL' was purchased directly from the Hibel Corporation by me. I will include in this aucton several of the reproductions. A beautiful collector ART TILE of 'America the Beautiful' and 'Oriental Jewel'. The picture of our Dear Edna with the Painting, as seen above. Two mugs of each image. A set of coasters, four coasters for each image. I will add some links to see the reproductions, if it doesn't open with a 'click', please paste address in your brouser window. http://hibel.com/images/gipage.jpg   http://hibel.com/mcart/index.cgi?code=3&cat=8   http://www.hibelmuseum.org/GicleĆ©.htm   I suggest if you are not aware of 'who' Edna Hibel is you should go to hibel.com and see her accomplishments, accolades and the many DIGNITARIES who have honored her in the past, including kings, queens and Presidents from all OVER THE WORLD! She has exhibited in nearly every country in the WORLD and still at 91 years of age, painting daily and LOVING EVERY MINUTE.   AMERICA LOVES EDNA HIBEL! ***********************Biography:Edna Hibel, a painter of sentimental pictures of children, has had a more than 60-year career as painter and lithographer and promoter of peace through exhibitions of her artwork. She was born in 1917 in Boston, Massachusetts. Her parents were Abraham and Lena Hibel, and she was raised in the Boston area and educated at Brookline High School where she met her future husband, Theodore Plotkin. She began to paint when she was nine years old and learned watercolor during summers at the shore where her family vacationed in Maine and Hull, Massachusetts. Hibel studied at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, from 1935-39, receiving a Sturtevant Traveling Fellowship to Mexico. In Boston, in 1966, she began lithography, continuing in 1970 in Zurich, where she still works every year. She has created lithographic works with up to 32 stones (or colors) on paper, silk, wood veneer and porcelain. The latter pieces are called lithographs on porcelain and result from a complicated process, that she keeps a secret, whereby she transfers stone lithographic color separations onto Bavarian hard paste porcelain. Hibel has created the "Arte Ovale" series and various plaques with this technique. She organized the Edna Hibel Museum of Art, in Jupiter, Florida, to display and promote her work and also created a United Nations stamp, "Mother Earth." In 1995, she was commissioned by the Foundation of the U.S. National Archives to commemorate the 75th anniversary of women receiving the universal right to vote. At the ceremony, Ms. Lucy Baines Johnson referred to Hibel as the "Heart and Conscience of America." In November, 2001, the World Cultural Council based in Mexico City gave her the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts. Hibel's work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in more than 20 countries including Russia, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, and the United States, and under the royal patronage of Count and Countess Bernadotte of Germany, Count Thor Bonde of Sweden, Prince and the late Princess Rainier of Monaco and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England.Pope John Paul II gave her a medal of honor as did the late Belgian King Baudouin. She also received honorary Doctoral degrees including from Eureka College, and Northwood University of Florida, Michigan and Texas. She also has received many humanitarian honors for her charitable efforts for children's and medical charities. Her exhibitions "Golden Bridge" and " Peace Through Wisdom" were efforts to promote peace and cultural understanding between China, the United States, Yugoslavia and Russia, and a television documentary titled "Hibel's Russian Palette" was based on her trips and art shows in Leningrad, now St. Petersburg. In 2001, Edna received a Lifetime Achievement Award from "Women in the Visual Arts," an organization of artists in the South Florida area.Today (2003) from her home and studio in Riviera Beach, Florida, Hibel continues to paint in oil and watercolor and also hand enhances her original stone lithographs, serigraphs and giclee with pastels, oil paint, gold leaf, pencil, ink, conte crayon and charcoal.Source:http://www.hibel.org/aboutartist.htm ********************* Other stuff to mention: Yes, there is a problem with the canvas separating from wood backing.  The canvas is separated below 'Oriental Jewel'. Edna used two pieces of canvas (I believe she decided to make the painting larger than originally planned).  Also, there are ripples and bubbles behind the canvas but this isn't a large restoration project. I had a PROFESSIONAL restorer give me an estimate of $2000/$3,000 to remove the canvas and reseal it securely  to the board so it would look good as when PAINTED by EDNA. I have included pictures and if you are interested in purchasing this MAGNIFICENT painting, you can take them with the measurements above for an estimate of the restoration in your local area. I was going to have the restoration done but decided to allow time for mother nature to release as much canvas as possible to make the restoration easier. The imperfections do NOT bother me but I want to give full discloser with pictures below so you can view and help with your decision. Note the pictures below, I tried to show as much as possible of problem area's. If a buyer uses the 'BUY IT NOW' price of $130,000, I will deduct $3,000 for the restoration of this beautiful painting and buyer can have the restoration done at their convenience. I was told it is a fairly easy process to remove and reseal the canvas to the board and might cost less than $3,000 to restore the canvas to the board.
