Zu Ming Ho was born in China in 1949, and showed an early appreciation and aptitude for several mediums of fine art. Ho developed his skills in many areas, including, classic Chinese painting styles, drawing, watercolor, landscape, and figure painting. Western painting techniques and classic French impressionism left an indelible mark on the young Ho, and he dreamed of one day enriching the world with his creative visions. The communist regime made an attempt to suppress Zu Ming by placing him into a labor camp with no access to the past time he loved. Suprisingly, he maintained high spirits by creating images in his head and trying to memorize the images so that they could one day materialize on canvas. He remained in the forced camp, working on a road crew for ten long years. After the political climate in his native land moderated, Ho was finally able to see his artistic dreams realized, and graduated from college with a formal art education. In 1987, Zu Ming Ho traveled to the United States, and reveled in the freedom to exercise his innate talent. His creations feature strong color, inventive harmonies, exquisite linearity, and overlapping archetypal images, while retaining an air of rhythm and ballance rarely seen in our century.
