Dave Powell is now a member of the Cowboy Artists of America. Painting is called "MCINTOSH'S PICKET PIN". MUSEUM GLASS WAS INSTALLED ON THIS 15X20 IMAGE AREA WATERCOLOR PAINTING in 2007. Size of the gold frame is approx. 24 1/2 X 29 1/2 inches, gold frame is 1 1/2 inches wide. A three inch buff-colored Matt surrounds the image. Also included is an original edition and rare out of print magazine. The publication is the REEARCH REVIEW, Journal of the Little Big Horn Associates ;Vol.10 No.2, June,1996, with article on Donald McIntosh and the discovery of his Wedding Ring at the Battlefield. The painting comes with an original illustrated letter from artist Dave Powell. The letter describes the history of how LT.McIntosh and how he was killed near the timber at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. Artist Dave Powell, is a fourth generation Montanan, is a traditional sculptor and painter of figures of the Old West and a costumer for the film and television industry. Born in Kalispell in 1954, Dave is the son of artists Ace Powell and Nancy McLaughlin Powell. Dave has been Designer and/ or or Costumer for motion picture films including: SACRED GROUND, GREY EAGLE, FAR AND AWAY, ARACHNOPHOBIA, ALWAYS, BACK TO THE FUTURE II AND III, SILVERADO, THE GOOD OL BOYS AND ALIVE. Televison work includes Costumer and/ or Set Costumer for: Star Trek: The Next Generation, Brotherhood of the General, Lonesome Dove, Ishi-Last of His Tribe. The Society of American Historical Artists awarded Dave a Gold Medal in sculpting, and he is a recipient of the George Phippin Memorial Award. He apprenticed under Robert Scriver, Ned Jacob, and Robert Lougheed. Dave's artwork has been featured at the Western Heritage Sale in Houston,TX, the Museum of Native American Culture in Spokane, WA., the Society of American Historic Artists in Stamford, CT., the Mountain Oyster Club in Tuscan,AZ., and th C.M.
