Van Leshout. The Baseball related cartoon is about the Opening Day game at Parkway Field, which I think was held on May 01, 1923. Parkway Field was the stadium of green brick walls and home to the Louisville Colonels of the American Association from 1923 to the mid 1950s and also home run haven for the University of Louisvilleās Head Coach Gene Baker's "Over the Wall Gang." The American Association President, Thomas J.(Butzy) Hickey is depicted astride a telephone pole with a free seat to see the ball game between Louisville and their St. Paul rivals. The editorial comment was about Hickey and his baseball league denying empty pocketed (poor) neighborhood kids from seeing any FREE baseball games. This nice original Van Leshout editorial cartoon was one of many works published in the Louisville Times when journalist and conservationist, Tom Wallace was head editorial writer. Original artworks or cartoons by Van Leshout are very rare and do not often appear on the market for sale. The Winning bidder will receive a Certificate of Authenticity with the work. (Please note that the quality of the original print is far superior to that of what my digital photograph can show.) Please read carefully before bidding!! #1. ITEMS: This is a used item. Unless specifically noted, most all of the items have been used, and are being sold in a "as is condition", with no guarantees being offered. I will always identify New or N.O.S. parts or items as such. ART: The majority of the Works of Art are in good to very good or excellent condition. Unless specifically noted, these artworks are not brand-new, just made pieces, and are being sold in a "as is condition", without any guarantees as to their condition being offered. The only guarantees being given are to their originality and authenticity. I will always identify Like New or Mint artworks or items as such and will do the same with works that are in less than good condition. Since I have a return policy, if you are unsatisfied with the quality of the artwork. You may return it under the terms of that return policy. #2. Shipping & Handling Costs: The costs are not only the actual postage fees, but also the cost of the envelop, box, or shipping container, packing materials, kraft paper, and the labor to package up the sold item for shipping to the winning bidder. So, it will always be more than the shown POSTAGE. #3. I will not end an auction early. I do want your business, but I also want to get the maximum exposure and price for my items. The auction format works for me, but I will sell items that I have but not up for auction at that time. I usually don't list a reserve, so the bidder who wants the item the most, can have it!! #4. All SALES ARE FINAL. I welcome and encourage all bidders to ask questions. It is not my intention to misrepresent any item listed for auction. Although I do include photo(s) with the auction, I also do recognize the limitations of digital photography. I want you to be pleased when your item arrives, not disappointed. So, please ask questions before you bid, and at anytime throughout the auction. I will accept Postal Money Orders, Cashier's Checks, or Cash (only if in person) and personal checks, but all personal checks will have to clear the bank first before delivery, which is about 7 to 10 business days. I DO NOT accept any payments by PAYPAL. Full Payment of the purchase price is required to be made by the winning bidder within four (4) days of close of this auction. A Bill of Sale and/or a Certificate of Authenticity, with art works, will be delivered upon full payment in cash. Buyer pays all shipping costs and any insurance costs, if needed. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail. Good Luck and Happy Bidding, Thank You.
