CARRIE ANN                                     A painter of a moment in time   Artist Carrie Ann whose work is represented by several galleries, biography is enclosed....   “Carmel by the Sea is a place where no words are needed," says Carrie Ann.  "Poetry is in the air; we paint our thoughts instead of speaking.”  Born in Carmel in 1953, this proud mother of five is a self-taught painter of emotion.  Early in life, she realized that her talent as an artist was a natural gift.  It was also something she utilized to escape from a terrible, abusive childhood of poverty and neglect.   Between the ages of 9 and 13, Carrie Ann moved from town to town, sometimes several times within one year.  Typically, that meant eight different school systems, eight different sets of schoolbooks and eight different methods of teaching.  The only thing that remained stable was art.  Carrie Ann comments, “Beginning at the young age of 12, I was frequently called upon by my art teachers to be the classroom assistant.  When given weekly art assignments, I found myself completing the projects within two days.  I spent the remainder of the week teaching the other students in class.  Art was the only 'A' I could count on." Reflecting upon this, a smile appears on Carrie Ann's face.   Later in life, she married and moved to the east coast, where she started a successful publishing company.  During this time, her artwork was exhibited at the Art Expo in New York and Los Angeles.  The Art Expo was where she discovered photographer, Stephane Colbert.  His photographic creativity captures snapshots of nature; moments that visualize the moods Carrie Ann enjoys painting.  This is just one reason why the creative relationship between Carrie Ann and Stephane works so successfully.  Once Stephane takes a photograph, CarrieAnn emulates that moment in time. Painting is my passion; my love- photographing is Stephane’s passion, how lucky we are to share the arts. The two continue to build upon their creative ideas.   Years after the sell of her publishing company, Carrie Ann taught art at the Silvermine Art Guild in New Canaan, Connecticut. Her favorite time on the eastern coast of the states, was as a docent for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.  Contacted by the Greenwich School System in Connecticut, Carrie Ann was asked to revise the syllabus for the “Learning to Look” / “Art Appreciation” programs which is still implemented today. Said programming brings American Art History into the schools of the United States. “It was working inside the museum while giving personal tours to the American Wing- that was the most gratifying of all!”  During the summer, she opened the doors of her studio and created a summer program for local students in the community.  The location of her studio, along the Westport, Connecticut shoreline, allowed students the flexibility to draw outdoors and truly connect with nature by feeling the sand under their feet.   Contemplating her style, Carrie says, “I love the figurative romance work of Rembrandt, the abstracts of Miro and his freedom, the etchings of Leonardo and his lessons in crosshatching. I learned a lot from the international artist, Frank Lisko and how he applies paint thinly and the surrealistic techniques. The mood of another painter “of light”, Alexander Volkov inspired me to use a liner brush.  It was Steven Smulka in Connecticut and his use of “air-brushing” to add the sheer and flawless capture of color blending. “Yet, my artistic expression is different and unique- I normally use all on one image.”    Her work is on display at corporate locations and in private collections.  Those who enjoy her paintings offer wonderful praise.  “Her work is beautiful.  A rare collection of unspoken messages painted in oil.  I feel her passion embodied in the artwork,” says purchaser Corinne James of Westport.  If you are able to gab an original, consider yourself – chosen.   In response, Carrie says, “I paint for love of art.  Winning contests or receiving awards inhibits artistic growth.  An artist is likely to lose passion, and instead they place focus on winning in order to receive bragging rights.  My paintings are not intended to win awards, but rather to express a mood and time that is real, and relatable to viewers.  I feel energized from being able to freeze a split second in time by layering, stippling- painting- air brushing- each color for an image.  Though, with each painting, I am still discovering who I am.  The only certainty I know for now is that it will happen in Carmel, and having my work enjoyed by others, brings me happiness.”   Carrie Ann is presently paints and works in Carmel as the assistant director for several galleries in Carmel that is owned by one of the most collected figurative bronze sculptors to date.   All Sales are Final and Good Luck Bidding.  Any questions, please feel free to email me.  Payment to be made within 5 days of Auction End Date.  Please inquire about US Shipping/Crating & Insured Costs, please give zip code . ************************************************************* Califrance Fine Art Inventory    (831) 624-2266  *  P.O.
