Description
Original pen & ink drawing by Walt Kuhn (American, 1877-1949). Walt Kuhn needs no introduction to enthusiasts of fine art. He worked in numerous media and styles and has attained significant posthumous notoriety and successful performance at public auction. In recent years, one of his oil paintings sold in excess of $1,000,000! He is most famous for his depictions of clowns, but his repertoire and subject matter is vast and varied. This finely detailed pen and ink/ink wash drawing of a cowboy and his trusted horse is in excellent condition with only a very slight yellowing of the 75+ year old paper. It is clearly signed and dated 1932. The visualized image is 10.5" x 10.25" and the frame measures 17.25 inches square. The black frame appears to be made of an acrylic-type substance and is in very good condition except for a rare micro-chip here and there at the corners. The western theme is somewhat rare for this artist, but is carried off successfully in grand Walt Kuhn-style. The reserve on this drawing is a bargain when considering other pen and ink drawings of comparable size by Kuhn that have come to public auction. In most cases auction prices are well-below retail, making this Walt Kuhn drawing a great investment. Payment by personal or cashier's check or money order. No Paypal. Shipping by UPS Ground unless otherwise requested from the buyer. Insurance required. The total cost of shipping and handling and insurance will be determined shortly after the conclusion of the auction, but is not expected to exceed $45...unless a speedier transit is requested.
