Description
malcolmberge Store Pair of Paris School Paintings by Antoine Blanchard Up for Auction is a beautiful pair of Paris School Paintings  by Antoine Blanchard   ( 1910 - 1988 )  Born in France November 15 1910 Antoine Blanchard was the eldest of three children, growing up in a creative environment he was inspired by his father who was a cabinet maker, he would watch his father carve and create fine furniture. He began to show artistic flair at an early age at which point his parents sent him to Blois for drawing lessons, he continued his training in Rennes at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts  ( School  of fine arts ) upon completion was awarded the schools highest award Le Prix du Ministre. By 1932 he left Rennie's and traveled to Paris to study, enrolling in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts to continue his education. It is at this time we see his development in the style of the Paris street scene that he was to make his own. Coming into his own he was often introduced to collectors as the foremost artist of the Paris street scene of the day. Like his predecessors, the French master Galien-Laloue, Cortes, Loir and Utrillo, Blanchard has made an impact on contemporary art. Combining his years of classical training with innovative technique we see a progression from heaver dark tones similar to those of the old masters , to a new style using numerous brush strokes giving a seance of movement pulling the viewer into the piece. I like to think of Blanchard's paintings as a snapshot in Parisian time recording scenes of the city's  bustling streets characterized by glowing street lamps lighting fashionable pedestrians and cafe society.( Brenda's ) Whether it was L' Arch de Triomphe, la Madeline, Cafe de la Parix, Norte Dame or dozens of other historical monuments and buildings of Paris his focus was on the daily life in Paris at the turn of the century, a much different time than the Paris of today although the monuments remain it was a time of leisure where strolling, window shopping and sidewalk cafes were a way that one would quietly spend the afternoon. His works have become highly sought after and collectors from around the world vied to acquire his pieces.Today he is considered one of the leading artists of the School of Paris painters. This wonderful pair show his traditional street scene including L' Arch de Trimpohe and Norte Dame with a delicate touch and enveloping mellow treatment: the slight haziness which is characteristic of his work in many ways recalls the work of the great masters of the impressionistic period. They measure 12 " x 16 " and are price reasonably as a pair but I will consider selling separately.   Standard shipping in USA Prices vary for International. All items have a seven day money back guaranty with return postage to be paid by sender.
