Description
Paul Strisik Signed Original Oil Painting Rising Tide Strisik (1918-1998,) originally from Brooklyn, New York, studied with Frank Vincent DuMond at New York City's Art Students League.  He lived in Rockport, Massachusetts from about 1955 and later also spent time in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  He primarily painted landscapes, seascapes, wharfs, harbors, and marine themed subjects, as well as some street scenes and other outdoors/natural vistas.    Paul Strisik was a member of the National Academy of Design, N.Y.C. This is the most prestigious honor an artist can achieve, as he was chosen by his peers. He was associated with or a member of the Oil Painters of America,  the American Watercolor Society and the National Academy of Western Art and was awarded approximately 185 times for his work, including numerous gold medals.   He became well known for his ability to capture light and light reflections in his painting.  He died in 1998. This approx. 20 x 30 painting is titled RISING TIDE, in what appears to be the artist's handwriting, and is marked "20 x 30," and there is a stamped marking on the back that the painting cannot be copied without permission of the artist. There is no number or date on the painting purchased by the current owners in Maine in 1973, and it is akin to other Paul Striskik works with titles like: Bass Rocks, Atlantic Surf, Surf, Golden Afternoon, Breakers, Rocky Shore Scene.  In a handwritten letter dated August 29, 1990 from Artist Paul Striskik to the current owners (available for viewing, if desired,) Mr. Strisik advises that "... I consider this a very good quality piece' ... 'I started to keep very precise records + photos of all my work about 1960, so it is possible that there is no number-" This relatively early example (not dated and not numbered) of Paul Strisik's work will be sold beautifully framed as shown and the shipping cost includes insurance.
