Description
This beautiful miniature portrait was purchased at an estate auction in Wichita, Kansas.  This piece is an unsigned portrait miniature of a lady in black dress with a bonnet.  The frame measures in at 7" X 7.5" (18cm X 19cm) with the painting measuring 2" X 2.5" (5cm X 6cm).  There are some faded inscriptions on the back of the frame but the word "Baltimore" can be fairly picked out. With my limited resources with respect to research, I can only attribute it to  Mrs. Moses B. Russell (Clarissa Peters, 1809-1854), 1840-1845 in comparison by Category, Format, Style, Condition, Type of Frame used, and geographical region with the set of portrait miniatures sold by Skinner of Massachusetts, June 3rd, 2007, on liveauctioneers - www.liveauctioneers.com/item/3747524. You'll have to sign in to view sale price. Price ranged up to $13,000. This portrait can also be attributed again to  Mrs. Moses B. Russell (Clarissa Peters, 1809-1854), 1840-1845 via Christie's http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/lot_details.aspx?from=searchresults&intObjectID=5030663&sid=e06d2b35-a7a7-493e-a890-70a95379fa77  Condition:  Other than the 3 minute paint loss in the black dress as you can see in pictures, the condition is excellent. Just imagine how high the value could be with adequate resources for research such that the inscriptions could be made vivid to identify the beautiful lady from Baltimore.  She could very well be a very important lady in the rich and great American history, furthermore, Baltimore is not too far from Mount Vernon - imagine the value! Note: In the unlikely event that you are not happy with this wonderful piece, I will gladly refund your cash minus shipping if it is returned as is within 7 days so I can keep my feedback rating at 100% EXCELLENT.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! Shipping: The shipping cost includes the packaging, shipping and insurance.  Will gladly ship Worldwide. Special Greetings:  Happy 4th of July. God Bless America and God Bless ALL of Our Women and Men in Uniform -                                  -- Thank You.
