Click images to view larger version IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT THIS AUCTION This item is in an "eBay Live Auction". This means that each item: 1) will not close at a specific time like an ebay.com auction, 2) will be opened in order in a format like a real auction house floor, 3) bids can be placed real-time during the auction. Please note, bidders may place bids before the auction (aka absentee bids). Absentee bids may be placed up to 1 hour prior to the start of the auction. This is the recommended method of bidding since many people on "auction day" either forget to participate in the auction or have other plans. Once the auction has started only live bids are accepted. Note: The "Auction date and time" displayed by ebay is the START date and time of the auction. This has nothing to do with individual items. We run approx. 150 items per hour so you can estimate from that when your item may be displayed. Also, for Mac users, there are known issues with the Live Auction bidding console and the Safari browser. Please use a different browser if you wish to participate in the Live Auction. You must register for each individual auction before you can bid whether you have participated before or not. To ensure that your registration has been completed, you should register at least an hour before the auction starts. If you register during the auction, it may take up to an hour before you are confirmed. For Payment information, please see the "Payment" section below. *** ALL ITEMS IN THIS AUCTION HAVE RESERVES *** The auctioneer will act to protect the reserve by placing an "Auction Floor Bid". These bids will be displayed during the auction and in eBay's Bid History after the auction as an "Auction Floor Bid". Item Description Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother is the mother of Queen Elizabeth II, the present British sovereign, and the widow of the late King George VI. She was born the Honourable Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon on 4 August 1900 (daughter of Lord Glamis, later 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne) and spent her early childhood at St Paul's Waldenbury in Hertfordshire, north of the capital. This was the country home of her parents. The Bowes-Lyon family is descended from the Royal House of Scotland. From childhood days The Queen Mother and her older sisters had been friendly with the children of King George V and Queen Mary. Occasionally members of the Royal family stayed at Glamis Castle. In 1922 Lady Elizabeth acted as one of the bridesmaids at the wedding of their daughter, Princess Mary. In January 1923 came the announcement of her engagement to HRH The Duke of York, The King and Queen's second son. They were married on 26 April 1923 in Westminster Abbey. They had two children, Princess Elizabeth, born on 21 April 1926 at the Strathmores' London home, 17 Bruton Street, and Princess Margaret, born on 21 August 1930 at Glamis Castle. King George V died in January 1936. When King Edward VIII abdicated on 11 December the same year, the accession of the Duke and Duchess was proclaimed and they assumed the responsibilities of the throne. Their coronation took place on 12 May 1937. With the outbreak of war in 1939, there was some suggestion that the Queen and ...View Complete Description Reference #: 2651 Condition:Overall good condition.
