The image is based on my interpretation of the designs of the hooked rugs of days gone by and also based on my admiration for dogs. It is done with quality acrylic paints on two joined pieces of floorboard that have all the lovely characteristics of old wood. I take the wood pieces and clean them up, apply a layer of gesso, draw on my design and then start the painting process. This piece measures approximately 18" x 10" x 3/4" and is ready to hang with wire and hooks on the back. The painting has been lightly waxed for protection and to maintain the vintage look. These are one of a kind original paintings and are not duplicated. This is part of a series of dog art that I started after my 17 year old Border Collie, Billie passed away and is my way of keeping her memory alive.
