This painting represents African American sufferage in American over the past several hundred years. This painting needs restoration and cleaning. It is in the original wooden frame. The frame itself is in good condition. There are no holes in the canvas, but the painting was exposed to heat by the previous owner and some of the paint has been damaged on the painting. The previous owner probably stored it in a attic or garage. It measures 53" long X 22.5" tall. The artist, R. Gross, inscribed his address on the back of the stretcher. It states, "R. Gross 217 W. 70th St. New York City." This address is located in the Upper West Side of the Manhattan Burrough of New York City. This painting was created during the Civil Rights Movement and African American art was very rare during that time. Due to our thorough research, we have learned that African American Art during the 1950's through the 1970's has become very valuable and worth a lot of money.
