Description
Now we're getting down to the good stuff. This painting has been in our estate for along time. When it was handed down to us we took it to a friend of ours by the name of Bernard Lewin. He owned a Latin American Gallery in the City of Palm Springs called Lewin's Fine Art. His son started a gallery just across the street from Bernard called Adaggio's. Bernard sold most of his collection to the Los Angeles County Museum. We've know Bernard for about 25 years until he passed away a few years ago and he was in his 90's. We're in the Rock N Roll industry and we starting getting into the art scene in the 1970's. When art was still fairly reasonable. When we started wanting to know about art Bernard took me under his wing and taught me alot about Latin American art. When he saw this piece he wanted to do a little trade. He took me upstairs to a private room in his gallery and displayed two wonderful De Koonings Oils on canvas from the early 1970's. They we're just abstracts. We like De Koonings work but we like his figurative pieces from the 40's and 50's. So we didn't do a trade with him. We took our piece back home and placed it on the wall and its been there ever since. According to what we was informed by Bernard this piece is from the 1920's. It's oil and sand on some type of thick linen material. It was sewn together to accompany the artist for a bigger image. This piece measures 40 inches high and 50 inches wide. The image is a beautiful Mexican landscape with a pyramid. We looked at the painting very close and there appears to be a few flakes that have ( in paint ). and we mean a very few spots less than 1/100 of 1 percent. We really don't like letting this piece go but we're working on a new project and we need the funds. Bernard Lewin was one of the foremost authorities on Latin American art. But we will allow your expert to view the piece if your interested in purchasing it. Please check our feedback to know that we're very serious buyers and sellers so bid with confidence. We guarantee everything we sell. God's blessings Maurice. On Oct-06-07 at 09:16:05 PDT, seller added the following information: maurice4 Store
