Good Luck Biography: Albert Lebourg Biography 1849 Born in Monfort-sur-Risle, France 1872 Professor of Drawing at the Societe des Beaux-Arts Algiers 1877 Returned to Paris, France 1883 Accepted to the Salon After training as an architect, Albert Lebourg taught drawing for five years at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Algiers. In 1878 he returned to France and studied with Jean Paul Laurens; he exhibited with the Impressionists in 1879 and 1880, and at the Salon from 1883-1895. Lebourg painted mainly in Auvergne, in Normandy and along the banks of the Seine; he also travelled to England in 1900, Switzerland in 1902 and Belgium in 1907. Technically his works show the influence of the Impressionists, but they are imbued with a strong sense of structure and design which is apparent even in his most atmospheric scenes. His pictures were very popular with his contemporaries, and several one-man exhibition were held in Paris during his lifetime. His work is represented in several museums including the collection of the Musee du Jeu de Paume in Paris. Selected Exhibitions 1890 Salon de la Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts Paris, France 1872 Corot, Monet, Si, 23rd Salon Municipal de Rouen Rouen, France
