Description
NOTE REGARDING RE-LISTINGI deeply apologize to everyone who asked questions and watched this auction.I had a line at the end of the listing stating that paypal bidderswould have to add an extra % of the final sale price to cover paypal fees.  Somehow, that is circumventing Ebays fees.  Even though they would get their cut, plusa cut of the additional %.  I don't understand. How is making MORE money for Ebay/PayPalCircumventing fees?As a result, I am going to ask buyers to pay with:bank and wire transfers, a postal money order, or a certified checkItem will ship after payment clears.I can and will still accept PayPal if there is no other alternative for the buyer.I understand the piece of mind provided by PayPal.If that is what it takes to make you, the buyer, feel more comfortable about the transactionThen so be it.  No surcharge, I'll eat the fee as usual.ADDENDUM:Before the original listing was removed, there was quite a lot of interest in this work, many watchers but no bids. I've decided to re-list it once more.  If the painting does notsell within the auction timeframe, it will be placed with either John Moran Galleries October aucitonor Altermann Galleries December auction.  That should quell any questions about the authenticityof the work.  However, the galleries take quite a substantially larger % of the sale price thanEBay.  This will be reflected in the reserve price of the auction.  The estimates from bothgalleries place the painting at aprox. $13,000 reserve, with an estimated sale price between$15,000 and $17,000.You can act now and purchase this painting at thousands less than at a big auction with the auction house.I can also have the painting professionally authenticated for any potential buyers. This will be at the buyers expense.  It will be by the person(s) and place chosen by the buyer. It does not indicate a contract to purchase the piece.  Any costs are non-refundable and in additionto the final winning bid plus shipping/insurance.CHANCE OF A LIFETIME!You can own this FANTASTIC original  Olaf Wieghorst painting  NOW, before it has a chance to go to an art auction get priced in to the stratosphere!First, a little background.I recieved this painting as a gift from a client some years ago.  To be honest, I never really liked it, and it was in storage for some time.Recently, I have noticed a resurgance in popularity of Western Americana, and decided to look in to my painting.  The reason for this is a sad one..I am self employed, and uninsured.  The health care industry in this country is CRAZY...  And I am being hounded by collectors.. so off it goes..I contacted the Olaf Wieghorst museam in CA first:  http://www.wieghorstmuseum.org/I spoke with Olaf's son Roy, and another fellow who manages the database of Olaf's work. They verified the painting authenticity.  They were also quite excited!  They had NO images of this work. There has never been any prints or lithos made of it either.  The just had a blank space in their database entitled:Stock Horse, 18x22,  1943My painting is labeled on the rear of the frame,  Stock Horse,  18x22, and is signed Olaf Wieghorst.  There is also Olaf's signet signed on the lower corner of the painting.  They were so excited to get some images of this painting that they immediatly added it's image to their database and sent me a copy of the entire database [assuming that I was as big a Wieghorst fan as themselves I suppose]Next I began to research on Ebay.  Several galleries are currently listing Wieghorst paintings.  Most notably, Altermann Galleries, and John Moran Galleries.  I contacted both galleries to see if they would be interested in purchasing the painting.  They were both very interested in listing the painting in their upcomming auctions.  Altermann Galleries suggested a $13,000 reserve, with a $15,000 - $17,000 estimate as to the selling price.John Moran Galleries suggested a $10,000 reserve with a $13,000 - $15,000 selling price.http://www.altermann.com/http://www.johnmoran.com/Sounds good.  Only problem?  Altermann can't list it untill December, and Moran until October. The debit collectors want their money now... SO - it's your chance to bid on this WONDERFUL piece of Americana without competing against 100s or 1000s of art bidders at the auction house. Please email me with any questions you may have.  I can get access to a higher resolution camera if you would like more or better pictures.SHIPPING + INSURANCE = $150 flat fee.  If insurance costs plus packing and shipping costs exceed $150, the buyer pays the difference.Professional authentication avaliable at the buyers expense.
