Description
This painting is a rare effort for Gerard Fortune, the Haitian artist who signs his work "Gerard." Most of his work is figural and depicts the loa or gods of Haitian voudun. This charming painting, however, is of birds nesting among beautiful orange and yellow tulip-like flowers growing out of a colorful and highly decorated planter. The vivid colors are sharp and clear, and the work is carefully executed. The painting, in acrylic on board, measures 20" x 24". It is handsomely framed, with a cream-colored linen fillet inside a gilded wooden frame. With the frame, the painting measures 22" x 26".
