Matthew Cullerne Bown is a leading British authority on Soviet Impressionist Art. Currently Soviet Impressionist and Social Realist art is being auctioned at major auction houses such as Sotheby’s and Christies. We offer this limited time collection on eBay at prices affordable to begin a collection of your own. Born in Moscow 1928 yr. Studied at Moscow Intermediate Art School 1944-47; Moscow Art Institute/Surikov Art Institute* 1947-53. Active in Moscow. Began exhibiting 1951. Dmitriev, R.G. exhibited in many well-known Exhibitions all around the Russia, such as All-Union Art Exhibitions*. The works of the Artist, R.G. Dmitriev are now in private collections in Italy, England, Germany and the United States. The works of Dmitriev, R.G. are sold in the auctions all over the world. Dmitriev, R.G. is listed in the Dictionary of Twentieth Century Russian and Soviet Painters 1900-1980 by the Britain Scholar Matthew Cullerne Bown. Explanation of terms: Surikov Art InstituteMoscow State Art Institute (MGKhI) named after the painter V.I.Surikov. Formed in 1948. Subordinate to the Academy of Arts of the USSR. One of two main art institutes in the country: (the other one is Repin Art Institute in Leningrad). All-Union Art ExhibitionsThe biggest regular national exhibition of soviet artists. Beginning from 1946 each two years, the great exhibition took place (mostly in Moscow, but sometimes in Leningrad). It was a final competition of artists that ended zonal and regional exhibitions all over the country. It was quite important for the artists to win the right to exhibit their works at the show because State museums and other Public Institutes used to buy paintings from there. Explanation of terms: College of Painting Sculpture and Architecture: The origins of the Moscow College of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture are in the art school called the life Class founded in Moscow in 1832. From 1833 to 1843 it became the College of Painting and Sculpture of the Moscow Art Society in 1866-the Moscow College of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. The College eventually came to rival the art college of the Imperial Academy of Arts in its importance. In May 1`918 it was put under the control of NarKomPros.
