His father, Salvador Dalí i Cusí, was a middle-class lawyer and notary. Dalí's father, a strict disciplinarian, was tempered by his wife, Felipa Domenech Ferres, who encouraged her son's drawing. Dalí had an older brother, also named Salvador, who died prior to the artist's birth[4]. When he was five, Dalí was taken to his brother's grave and told by his parents that he was his brother reincarnate. He also had a sister, Ana María, who was three years younger than him. Dalí attended drawing school, where he first received formal art training. In 1916, Dalí discovered modern painting on a summer vacation to Cadaqués (in the nearby Costa Brava) with the family of Ramon Pichot, a local artist who made regular trips to Paris. The next year Dalí's father organized an exhibition of his charcoal drawings in their family home. He had his first public exhibition at the Municipal Theater in Figueres in 1919. In 1921, Dalí’s mother died of cancer when he was only 16 years old. After her death, Dalí’s father married the sister of his deceased wife; Dalí somewhat resented this marriage.Every once in a while you come across a rare masterpiece that you have to see to believe. A Deluxe suite of 11 original Dali lithograph/etching/collage works, including the Frontispiece lithograph which is not included with most of these suites. The original etchings were made by Salvador Dali on copper plates, and the impressions were pulled from those plates at the studio of J.J. Rigal in Paris. The lithographs were hand pulled at the studio of Desjobert in Paris. The edition consists of 75 impressions signed by the artist and numbered I/LXXV to LXXV/LXXV on Japon paper with text in english. Our collection was the very first, numbered I/LXXV, in this edition. This breathtaking collection is referred to as the "Special Deluxe Set" and the actual masterpieces measure 770mm X 557mm (30 3/8" X 22"). An original wooden portfolio box was designed especially for this edition and is unique.
