Description
SHEL SILVERSTEIN   Original artwork! (Author of 'The Giving Tree', 'Where The Sidewalk Ends', 'Falling Up', and many other famous children's titles.)   ______________________________________     Highly-detailed pen/ink drawing with original ( ??? possibly unpublished ??? ) poem in the left-hand margin. 13 3/4" x 9 1/8" (paper size) Signed: Shel Silverstein Depicts a bearded man in overalls ( ??? possibly a self portrait ??? ) sitting in the grass. Poem reads: God bless the trees and the bees and the sun and the moon and those three stars right there the ones that make the spoon. God bless the water and the flowers and the clouds up on high and the ways that malaise seems to pass me by. God bless the morning and the snow in the mountain pass but... most especially, God bless the grass. No tears to the paper, no water damage or staining, smooth edges (except for the side which has been removed from the sketchbook - no clean-up has been attempted). Highly detailed - beautiful pen/ink rendering. My ex was an avid collector (original artwork, prints, giclees, lithographs, etc - autographed books, first editions, prepublication copies, etc - precolumbian pottery - comic-book pages - many other objects/items). He purchased from estate sales, auction houses, online sales, at conventions, through galleries and private collectors, and many other sources. The vast majority of his purchases occurred in the years leading up to our marriage (that, however, does not mean he didnt continue through our marriage - he certainly did that), but the great bulk were from prior to that time. I'm afraid that means that I dont have any record of where this purchase took place, who the original owner/owners was/were, or it's date of creation, etc. That having been said: these auctions are the absolute last auctions for original (non-comicbook) artwork. While I do have books, prints, comic art, pre-Columbian pottery, and historic artifacts left, this is the very last of the original works. I have emptied every container I have in my storage facility, gone through the stacks of artwork in my house, and have even emptied a few frames from the wall. I now know, for a fact, that this is all I have remaining. If you have ever thought about wanting work like this, now is the time. Please search the internet for gallery prices on work of this quality by these artists - I was shocked at the prices! We're talking between 20 and 60 thousand dollars for large detailed pieces like a couple of the ones listed in these auctions. These will sell with no reserve!     ______________________________________     To begin with, those of you who regularly purchase from me pretty much know the story behind all of my recent moves (Killeen, TX to Fairbanks, AK to Erie, PA to another address in the same city and all within the last couple months) - my Guhbabies! They're here with me now, and I couldn't be happier! Thank you to everyone who sent well-wishes and good-blessings.   There is a 7-day, no-questions-asked, full refund policy. If you are unhappy with the purchase, you may return for a full refund (minus shipping costs). Item must be postmarked for return before the 7th consecutive day after receipt. Item must also be received on our end in the same condition in which it was shipped initially to purchaser.   We happily combine shipping on all of our auctions.   Good luck, and happy bidding!   ***I have been contacted by quite a few bidders with concerns over ebay's shipping calculations. It seems that their rates quote VERY high. I ship safely and at the lowest ACTUAL cost available. I do, however, charge a $2.00 packaging fee to help deter the materials cost; it is $2.00 that is used, every penny, to pack your purchase safely.***             Powered by eBay Turbo Lister
