On cream colored paper. With a sheet size of 5 x 5 1/2. 2) RIDER ON A HORSE: an original drawing C.1870 by Sir John Gilbert. This drawing is signed with initials by the artist. The drawing in fair condition, there are several folds in the drawing and tears in the upper and lower margin (but well away from the image) On cream colored paper. With a sheet size of 5 x 8. A very expressive drawing that probably needs some restoration, but definately is worth the effort and costs (say $50 to have the drawing restored). Sir John was knighted in 1872 for his artistic achievements. He was a member of the Royal Academy, and President of the Old Watercolor Society. SiR John exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Society of British Artists, and many other European venues. He was nicknamed the Scott of Painting because of his preferance of medieval chivalric subjects in his work. A very RARE opportunity to place a major 19th.
