Description
Star of Peace Rare 14K Gold Pendant Including 14K Gold Neck Chain By Yaacov Agam The "Star of Peace" was created by Yaacov Agam following The Camp David Accords as took place September 17, 1978 which were signed by Menachem Begin of Israel and Anwar Sadat of Egypt, witnessed by President Carter. The composition includes the six pointed Star of David with the five pointed Star of Christianity when spread apart. When combined, the "Star of Peace" is formed. The size when closed (11 points) is 1 1/2" (4 cm); when opened 2 3/4" (7 cm). The loop on the top provides a unique swivel hinge which enables it to be opened or closed. A second loop is provided for hanging on a neck chain, as shown, which I will include for a winning bidder or Buy-it-Now purchaser. In modern times, the Star of David has become a premier Jewish symbol. This six pointed star, made of two interlocking triangles, can be found on mezuzahs, menorahs, tallis bags and kipot. Ambulances in Israel bear the sign of the red Star of David and the flag of Israel has a blue Star of David planted squarely in the center. While the five pointed star is found in Mesopotamian writings dating to about 3000 BC, in present times it is frequently identified with Christian teachings. This highly symbolic eleven pointed Star of Peace was given to each of the three principal participants of the Camp David Accords, namely, Menachem Begin, Anwar Sadat and President Carter. The piece offered in this listing is from an edition of only 99 created in 14K gold and is edition piece number 28/99. The signature of Agam and edition number are hand written on the Star of David using an electric engraving pen. The release price at the time of issue was $3,000.00. The condition is mint having been stored in a bank vault since its purchase in 1980. Shipping with full insurance is included in the purchase price to destinations within the continental U.S.A. Sales tax will be added to shipments within the state of Wisconsin. For further information contact me by e-mail or at 1-800-326-2787 (7 days).
