Description
A breathtaking mixed media work hand signed by Master Salvador Dali, this masterpiece was created in 1975 as part of the suite titled "Alchimie des Philosophes." This individual work is titled "L'Ange de l'alchime" (The Angel of Alchemy). This work is from the edition of 225 on parchment. The tirage for this piece (tirage, meaning the total number of pieces made) is 335 plus proofs. Three (3) types of printmaking were used to create this image: lithography, engraving, and serigraphy. Dali used actual rubies to make the eyes of the Angel. Gems were used in several works from this suite. Because these works are on "leather" or parchment, Master Dali's signature on most pieces from this suite is rather hard to see as the ink has faded into the parchment. Master Dali nonetheless signed them and one must look with care to see the signature -- it is there. The Angel of Alchemy is referenced in the catalog raisonne for Dali's graphics works. This work is pictured on page 105 of "The Official Catalog of the graphic Works of Salvador Dali" written by the late Albert Field. It is referenced as work 75-12 B. It was published by Art et Valeur, Paris. We have professionally framed this work in a frame worthy of encasing a masterpiece. We have floated the artwork in that frame to show its condition, which is simply remarkable. During the framing process we took every effort to make sure that all archival protections were taken to preserve this piece. The artwork itself measures 30" x 22". It is framed as shown. The 2008 Price Guide to the Official Catalog of the Graphic Works of Salvador Dali values this piece at $13,100 (unframed). Shipping insurance will be provided by us as a courtesy to the winning bidder. Please contact us with any questions about this masterpiece. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity but no known "fakes" of this work are known (due mostly to the fact that these images were done on parchment). Please browse other modern masters works in our ebay store. Shipping insurance with this piece is included in the price. Please contact us with any questions about this or any of our other works.
