This was built in the early 1990's for an outdoor museum in Maggie Valley, NC. In total there were about 24 different houses built and displayed. Only two remain. This one and the Carl Sandburg house. All the others were burned when the new owners bought the land and developed it. This house was hand built by a local artisan over the period of several months. The frame and base is plywood. The outside is beautifully detailed as you can see in the photos. Each of the wooden roof shingles was individually placed. The gutters are hand made from small strips of wood. Some of the roof sections are galvanized steel and some are copper. The windows are Plexiglas. The detailed scroll work around the windows is incredible. There is even a porch swing. The interior is wired for lighting. I'm not sure what scale it is. It was built to be displayed outdoors. Now for what it needs. Some of the windows are missing. There are lots of windows inside but I'm sure some are missing. The paint looks worn especially on the roof. Some of the gutter downspouts are missing. There are lots of pebbles on the inside. I'm guessing people threw pebbles at it trying to get them through a window. This is a huge house. It measures 6 1/2 feet wide and probably 8 feet long. It will have to be moved in a U-Haul or a Flatbed Truck. A pickup truck bed isn't wide enough.
