T. Ladd or a J. P. Ladd.  A preliminary search has yielded no information on the artist's identity, but what is clearly evident is the strong graphic quality of the work. The watercolor measures 5 3/4 inches by 5 3/4 inches (not including the lettering giving the month and date).  The watercolor is painted on a heavy sheet of white card stock measuring 10 1/4 inches by 9 inches; the artist has signed the work in white gouache at the lower right on a slightly wrinkled support sheet of black paper that measures 14 inches by 13 inches.  The watercolor, which is attached to its support sheet of black paper at the top, is in excellent condition, with no rips, tears, stains, foxing or other problems.  In its cream colored mat (which has a few handling imperfections), the piece measures a total of 19 inches by 15 inches. This original watercolor, clearly done by a professional illustrator, nicely evokes the Art Deco period in which it was created.  I am listing this week another original watercolor by the same artist that was made for the same calendar, and which illustrates the month of October.  Place a Bid!
