Description
kamcg2007 Store Signed John Baumgartner Bromoil Photograph - The Squaw DescriptionThis original bromoil photograph was created circa 1980 by the artist, John Baumgartner. It features a squaw on horseback in a barren desert scene with jagged mountains rising in the background. The imagery that makes up this piece is captivating, however the technique used to create this piece and its resulting surface texture make this piece even more special. This is a one of a kind photograph created using the bromoil process. This technique will never create two alike pieces. The end result is a soft, painterly effect. In this technique, the photograph is inked by hand which allows for the vivid colors such as the blue in the sky and the green in the vegetation. The artist displays his mastery of the medium by taking this scene from daily life and turning it into something artful and beautiful. This bromoil photograph would be an excellent addition to any art collection or a fabulous accent to a home's decor. This original bromoil photograph measures approximately 13.5" by 10.5." It is mounted on a mat board that is painted two complimentary mauve colors. The board measures approximately 20" by 16." On the reverse of the mat board are identifying features such as a exhibition label from the Northern California Council of Camera Clubs Competition and the artist's personal stamp. The label states this piece is a metalchrome however the front mat is marked bromoil (and) metalchrome, which appears to be in the same hand as the photographers name. The artist signed his name along with the technique and the name of the piece in pencil below the image on the mat board. This piece is in fine original condition (Please see photographs).
