The painting is in its original frame measuring 36" x 32' with an image size of 30" x 26". Written information is attached to the stretcher ( see photos) and it reads: " Artist S. Csoka, State New York,  Medium Oil ,Title of Work, Before The Storm , Dated March 30, 1941", Allocated / Loaned to New Utrecht High School 79th street and 16th Avenue Brooklyn New York". There is also writing on the stretcher ( see photo) "Before The Storm, S. Csoka". I have been in contact with Frank Csoka, the son of Stephen and custodian of the Stephen Csoka estate who has written a book on the art work of his father Stephen, titled " Endless is the way Leading Home The Art Of Stephen Csoka", published by Vail Fine Art Press. The book describes Stephens oil paintings, drawings, etchings and pastels and gives a chronology of his lifes works. He was a WPA artist and became a United States citizen since 1941, the year this painting was exhibited. According to Frank Csoka the oil painting Before The Storm,  "is certainly a good one. It is a definite museum piece and has good historical value". Stephen Csokas paintings are quite collectible and as many as twenty of his works pictured in the book "have sold"  from $5000.00 to  $50,000.0 . I will include a copy of Frank Csokas book to the winning bidder of this auction. The paining for sale is in excellent original unrestored condition. There is a partial signature lower right ( see photo) where the "S" is present. The rest of the signature seems to be overpainted. Frank Csoka suggested I leave it alone rather than to try and have it professionally restored since there is plenty of documentation on the back of the painting .
