The multiple by Jasper Johns, titled TARGET 1970, was specially commissioned for this publication and comprises a two-color offset lithograph with a collage of three watercolor pads and brush. The multiple invites collaboration with Jasper Johns in creating a unique version of his "TARGET" (thus creating a unica if the user does as instructed - luckily, that is not the case here!) Box, book and multiple measures 10 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, the box being 1 1/4 inches thick. Softcover book, titled TECHNICS AND CREATIVITY: GEMINI G.E.L., is 1st edition, 108 pages in stiff illustrated covers. It is an exhibition catalog at the Museum of Modern Art of selected prints and multiples published by Gemini at their workshop in California by such leading artists as Josef Albers, Jasper Johns, Ellsworth Kelly, Roy Lichtenstain, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, and Frank Stella, etc. Includes 364 illustrations (20 in color), an essay by Riva Castleman, Associate Curator of Prints at the Museum, and a catalogue raisonne of Gemini's complete production. Also includes the seldom found original foam rubber protective insert as well as the Museum of Modern Art statement slip.
