These were rendered by the listed English artist George H. Jalland (active 1888 - 1908) who was well known for his sporting articles and illustrations in "Punch," "The Graphic," and "The Sporting Magazine." These 19 original pen and ink drawings are matted and framed identically in simple distressed black moulding. They are in excellent condition. Each one bears Jalland's well known monogram and several have his penciled notations and instructions for the publisher. These were purchased at the Bloomsbury Book Auction in London. This is a rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a very special collection of original sporting art. Each framed illustration measures 10 1/8" H x 9 5/8" W, and the frame is nearly 1" thick. The illustrations themselves are 3 1/2" H x 2 7/8" W. Also included in this auction is a copy "The Life of the Fox," which begins each chapter with one of the original drawings and, in addition, depicts select scenes with colored illustrations.
