See pic. I started to rub it off and it did start to come off, but my fear of doing any damage stopped me and I will let the new owner make that decision. VELOY JOSEPH VIGIL American (1931-1997) Veloy Joseph Vigil was an abstract painter of Native American figures in watercolor, oil and acrylic. Born in 1931 in Denver, Vigil grew up on a ranch in Colorado and participated in rodeos. Cited in Who's Who in American Art, he served in the U. S. Marine Corps and then attended the Colorado Institute of Art and the Denver Art Academy. He worked as a commercial artist and as an art director at American Greeting Card company and the Buzza Cardoza card company. His unique approach to painting was to break up shapes and masses in his mind while he would lay the color down. In Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico, Vigil's wife Elena and family sell his work through Gallery Elena. His work has been featured in Southwest Art and Art Talk magazine. This painting (4 panels) has been located on the highly awarded Cheyenne Mountain Resort property for many years. The Resort is located in Colorado Springs. Unknown origin or when they acquired it. A recent insurance appraisal listed the replacement value at $115,000, excellent condition. I can send you the complete appraisal (although most of the other pages are other pieces), I just couldn't include everything due to eBay limitations of 12 pictures.
