Description
Up for auction this week is a GUARANTEED ORIGINAL OIL PAINTING ON MASONITE in its original, heavily detailed frame by famed artist LAWRENCE "VINCENT" GARRISON, and this is "one" of "seven" that I currently have in inventory. Born in the year of 1923, and unfortunately now recently deceased this past May of 2007, Lawrence Garrison was best known as "Vincent" throughout the art world and signed his works as such. Vincent was a prolific artist and was heavily influenced by the artist Julian Ritter who in fact helped Vincent through a difficult financial period in his life by suggesting that he should paint nudes. The rest is history. Here's a quote from his Obituary in the San Diego Union-Tribune: Most of us can only dream of living the life that Lawrence "Vincent" Garrison lived. Following his service in the Marine Corps during World War II, he attended the New England School of Art in Boston, MA. Following graduation, he moved to San Diego, with his wife Elizabeth and began painting professionally. Vincent is most well-known for his nude oil paintings that currently hang in nearly 300 galleries worldwide. Several times during his career, his work was the center of media attention. First, in 1980 when his work was destroyed in the MGM Grand Hotel fire in Las Vegas, and again when a portrait was stolen then recovered in the home of a celebrity art collector. He has painted portraits of some of the most famous people in the world, but painting nudes was always his passion. As a perfectionist, he constantly strived to capture the elegance of women. Lawrence was once quoted as saying "I wanted to put women on a pedestal." Now for the details... dimensions of the image area are 24" X 36", whereas the frame measures in at 33" X 45". Condition... a bit of unobtrusive scuffing, but nothing that detracts. There is an extremely small surface abrasion on her left clavicle (you can see it by clicking on the link provided and using the enlarging feature), but it's also not something that detracts and can easily be touched in if so desired. You can see this piece in greater detail by clicking on this link http://www.pkellyfineart.com/collection_c298448.html and please note that this is a rather large and heavy piece, so the winning bidder will pay actual costs towards shipping, professional crating, and insurance. Also note that the shipping price on this listing is only a ballpark figure. State tax is applicable for those residing in California, unless a valid resale number is provided. Payment is due within 5 days after the auction has ended, and a personal check must clear before shipping takes place. Paypal or Bank to Bank wire transfers are preferred. Please email any questions you may have before bidding, or if you would like to speak to me personally, I can be reached at (949) 770-1483. Also... please take a moment to see my other listings that I have going on this week and good luck with your bidding.
