I purchased this piece several weeks ago at a local auction which featured many great folk art pieces from a local collector including this horse. I'm told this is a windmill weight which acted as a counter balance. The piece has a great look and form. It measures about 18" across from the tail to tip of the mouth and about 18" high fron the feet to the top of the ears. It is painted in a yellowish paint which has some area of loss on the legs. You can see a brownish paint under the yellow. There is a number 58G on the side and a hole. The stand looks to have been made for this piece. I don't know much about windmill weights so please do your own research before bidding. Since I have no provenance I can't tell you a whole lot about where it came from ot when it was made etc. There are speck areas of paint loss and rust on the body. Has a great folky look.The piece is very heavy. No international bidder or shipping on this piece because of the weight.
