Description
Wonderful 1970’s hand woven wall hanging by celebrated Canadian textile artist Sasha McInnis-Hayman.  The tapestry is entitled “I Need a Shield”, and her characteristic signature of an inverted triangle and a crescent moon is in the lower right hand corner.  I was honored to be a friend, and I traded two gold rings that I made for her in return for this hanging.  We are downsizing at present, and must part with some beautiful personal things.   The weaving depicts a multi-toned pink seashell on the shore of a sea in various shades of blue.  The hills in the background are of several tones of olive green, under a pink clouded sky.  There is a subtle full moon.   Dimensions:  55 ½” X 56 ½”.   The colors are still vibrant, though hard to capture in the photos, the gallery is quite close but not as bright.  It could use a cleaning.  It is mounted on a slat of solid wood, with wire for hanging.   This is a beautifully woven tapestry by a highly respected Canadian artist.  With mixed feelings, we offer it for bidding. ABOUT US   We’ve been involved with antiques for many years.  Please add us to your “Favorite Sellers” list if you like any item we have offered.  We are likely to be offering a similar item within a few months at most.  We sell what we like, and we will be offering many pieces from our own collections over the next while for the usual - moving and downsizing.   Please ask your questions before bidding. We frequently do antique shows on weekends, so would appreciate it if you’d ask questions Monday to Friday. We have always answered weekend questions, but please be patient. Shipping, Handling and Insurance We take the utmost care in packing our customers’ purchases.  We ship worldwide.   We invoice on Sundays and Mondays.  Items are shipped at least weekly (and sometimes twice), generally on Wednesdays - we request you make payment for your purchases by Tuesday evening so we can ship to you in a  timely manner, instead of making you wait for an additional week.  Shipping and handling are at cost and will be quoted in advance to our customers on request. We ship Canada Post, as well as other shippers on request.  WE WILL HAPPILY COMBINE SHIPPING ON ITEMS PURCHASED WITHIN A WEEK OF ONE ANOTHER.  Just let us know your intentions.   Shipping times for surface are as follows: US/Canada 1-2 weeks; UK 4-6 weeks; Europe/Australia 6-12 weeks.  We can assure you that air transit is far superior to surface, and the cost is generally only slightly higher.  Sometimes shipments from Canada can take a bit of time, but we can assure they are worth the wait!  Shipping costs from our part of the world can be higher than domestic costs in the US, and particularly within Canada.  Please don’t be shy about asking for a quote before you bid.   We will insure your purchases in transit on request at $1.50 per $100 value ($100 value minimum).  We will self-insure up to $20.00 value maximum. Payment Payment is expected within 7 days of auction closing. We prefer PayPal, but will accept INTERNATIONAL money orders.   Personal cheques are a problem for everyone, as they can take weeks to clear, and your shipment will be accordingly delayed.  Any questions we haven’t answered? Ask us!!  Thanks for looking and thanks for your consideration.
