As expressed by Andy Warhol himself, "When you think about it, department stores are kind of like museums". The pop artist not only depicted products of mass consumption, but also wanted to mass produce his own works of art. With this in mind, Pop Art was born.  Warhol founded The Factory in 1962, an art studio where he employed in a rather chaotic way "art workers" to produce screenprints, lithographs and  posters.  Andy Warhol preferred screenprinting above all other methods of print making, and produced a large number of spectacular portfolios of prints, most often of varying portraits of well known people such as Mao, Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor.
