Those familiar with Schwartz' work will recognize the precursor to what ultimately became his signature style. This portrait was given to my father by Schwartz in 1929. I inherited it in 1980. Full provenance, along with several photographs of Schwartz relaxing in his Ohio Street studio down the hall from my father's silversmiths studio in Chicago in the 1930's.
